As Art Director I would take a look at all concept art and 3D models being produced and discuss with the lead designer before providing feedback to artists. Since I was also writing the story, it worked out well that I could have a major influence on how the visual representation of characters, major settings, ect. that I had written would end up looking. This aided in maintaining the central vision that we wanted to continue developing as production went forward.
